The Cessna 172 XP comes from the Cessna 172 line, also known as the Skyhawk. The Cessna Skyhawk is a four-seater, high-and-fixed-winged civil utility aircraft powered by a single engine. It was manufactured from 1956 to 1986, and reintroduced in 1998 and is still available today. Over 43,000 and counting units of the Cessna Skyhawk were produced, making it the most produced aircraft of all time. It is also labeled as the most successful aircraft in history, as made evident by its popularity that lasted through the years.

Cessna 172 Skyhawk can carry one crew and three passengers. It has a length of 8.28 meters, height of 2.72 meters, wingspan of 11 meters, wing area of 16.2 square meters, an empty weight of 767 kilograms, and a gross weight of 1,111 kilograms. It is powered by a four-cylinder Lycoming IO-269-L2A engine at 160hp, and has a two-bladed metal propeller. It flies at a cruise speed of 226 kilometers and a maximum speed of 302 kilometers an hour.
