The Beechcraft Barron 55, first introduced in 1961, is a variation of the Beechcraft 95 Travel Air and was in production from 1961-1983, and over 3,500 units were produced during that time.  A civil utility, twin engine, light aircraft, the Beech 55 has been a staple in the American light aircraft family since its inception nearly 60 years ago. There are 3 basic models within the Barron aircraft line:

1.      Barron 55-short body

2.      Barron 56-short body

3.      Barron 58-long body

In 1961 when the Barron 55 was first introduced, it seated 4 or 5 passengers, and was powered by two 260-hp Continental IO-470-l six cylinder piston engines, and while it originally sold for $58,250, if you want to purchase a new Barron these days (2008 model), that will set you back a hefty, $1,040,000.

The Beechcraft Barron 55 also had several sub variants made after it, from the more visually appealing A55 all the way to the E55 with the improved avionics and panel design.
