BEECH » 60

First introduced in July of 1968, the Beechcraft 60 Duke is a twin-engine, fixed-wing light aircraft with retractable tricycle landing gear as well as a pressurized cabin. Originally made with turbocharged Lycoming TIO541-B4 engines that develop 380 hp each, the Beech 60 has always been known as a high performing aircraft.

Upon its introduction in the 1970s, the Beech 60 Duke was comparatively advanced in terms of its complicated technology, and even though the final variant introduced in 1974, the B60, was an improvement in engine efficiency, there were only a total of 596 produced by Beechcraft and production was stopped in 1983. Despite the fact that maintenance costs were relatively high for this high performing aircraft, most of the Beech B-60s have retained their original equipment.

In addition, there have been a number of Beech 60 Dukes modified by replacing the Lycoming reciprocating engines with Pratt & Whitney Canada PT6A-21, or -35 turbine engines, which have increased both the fuel capacity and the maximum useful load.
